fantasy story continued …………….. 16

The full moon came out for the night when Sir Aldren stopped to rest near a river bank. There he thought he would continue again in the morning and so waited for Flame and Oren to come by. It was getting cold by the time, so he got ready to prepare a fire. While he was working on it, the moonlight shone brightly on him. He realized something was happening to him, something different about himself. Therefore to take a better look, he went to see his reflection in the river. At first Sir Aldren was shocked and kept on staring himself in the water. Then he pulled down his clothes one by one and started checking every part of his body. “How did this start to happen?” he kept on saying to himself continuously.

Sir Aldren’s shoulder length black hair was turning silver. His peach skin was getting white in color and rough like that of a dragon, but not scaly. Even his eyes looked different and the pupil was taking the shape that of a dragon’s eye. He checked his back to see a tail and shoulder for a wing. But luckily there were neither tail nor a wing. He was so lost in it and didn’t notice when Flame flew down to the fireplace with Oren carrying a bag full of food and water. At first Oren didn’t look at Sir Aldren, thinking that he was taking a bath, and continued preparing Dinner. But when they didn’t hear any water splashing sound, they looked again carefully. Oren and Flame were amazed to see the huge change come upon Sir Aldren.

Sir Aldren slowly moved out of the water and came straight to his sword. He then called out for Y’reth. After a few minutes later Y’reth appeared in his misty form. “What is with all the yelling about?” he gave a loud yawn and looked at Sir Aldren with a surprised face. “Y’reth. What is happening to me?” he spoke with a trembling voice. Y’reth looked around and saw Oren walking towards them. “I think you can ask him as to what is going on.” Y’reth said pointing towards Oren. Only now Sir Aldren understood that he was not in control of himself or else he would have noticed them before.

Sir Aldren so confusingly sat down and looked up directly to the moon. At that time Oren came by and sat down next to him in order to observe. “I think your human features are partially blending with that of Y’reth’s dragon appearances.” Sir Aldren looked away in anger when Oren said that to relax him up. “I am sure nothing dangerous is going to happen. In fact I don’t think that you will turn in to a dragon after all.” Sir Aldren looked at Oren with narrowed eyes. “I promise on my wizardry that you won’t become a total dragon. And if that happens I will be responsible to take care if you.” Oren quickly said before Sir Aldren got up with dissatisfaction. Y’reth and Flame came by to their sides. “You worry too much Sir Aldren.” Y’reth said after lowering his face to level up with Sir Aldren’s. “Just simply ignore that something have happened and rest for tonight after you eat ok.” He added this to make Sir Aldren feel better. “Oren has said that he would take care of the problem if it gets worst. Isn’t it Oren?” Flame spoke. Oren gave a nod and walked to the fireplace to prepare their dinner.

Sir Aldren woke up earlier than the others and ran to the riverbank to take a look of him. So far no other change has come to him. He appeared the same as that of last night, but only a little bit exhausted due to a restless sleep. Sir Aldren gave a sigh and took a dive in to the water. He swam deeper and deeper in to the river and then found a huge boulder within the growing weeds. He stood on it keeping a balanced rhythm with the flow of the river and thought about him on and on. Finally made up his mind that he would live with whatever differences may come by. The early morning bath somehow relaxed him and he dressed up very carefully to hide most of his skin and hair as not to alarm any one from the kingdom. He was getting ready to return home when Oren and Flame woke up. “Wake up sleepy heads. It is time to get going now.” Sir Aldren said when Oren started yawning and rubbing his eyes.

Oren looked up with squinted eyes and said. “Is it morning already.” He then again yawned and looked at Sir Aldren once more and said. “You seem to be in a good mood.” Sir Aldren shook his head with a smile and said that he is still tired but much more excited to return back to the kingdom. The morning air was very welcoming and very mildly cold too. Oren on Flame’s back followed Sir Aldren and finally reached the kingdom walls. Before that, Oren had told Sir Aldren that he had casted a spell on those who survived the fight and went home. So they won’t hold any memory of what took place between Y’reth and Sir Aldren’s special exchange. Sir Aldren was relieved and asked Oren how he knew. Oren said. “I had a feeling that you don’t want to. So that’s why I took measures before hand.” Sir Aldren laughed with happiness. “And if anyone asks about your new look.” Oren stopped there and took a deep breath and added. “Just let me answer that for you. Ok.” Sir Aldren agreed and they moved forward.

The king’s guards stopped him from entering as he was covering almost all of his body to hide his appearance. Luckily with the help of Oren he managed to pass through. His first priority was to meet the king and give his report about the incidence of what happened to Lord Dareth. Sir Aldren rode to the newly renovated castle with Oren. Before that Flame was told to hide nearby and wait till Oren returns from the Castle. His fellow knights who survived and right now who were on duty, looked at Sir Aldren with suspicion. But after few minutes later they recognized him and greeted him with hugs and patted him on the back with joy. Luckily they didn’t try to uncover him as they were too excited by seeing him. Even people who were inside the castle seem to be too busy to notice him. Finally Sir Aldren bumped in to the king’s high minister Floran while rushing through the palace.

Floran is a wise old man and a great guider of Sir Aldren too. He was shocked and doubtful too when Sir Aldren spoke to him to get permission to see the king. Before giving okay, Floran first took Sir Aldren to his chamber along with Oren. There Sir Aldren was told to remove the covering from his face and hair to make sure it was him. Floran was shocked at first and stood there for a few seconds when he showed himself. Then Floran got excited to hear all about it but before that he took Sir Aldren and Oren to the master chamber where King Victor and his fellow ministers were busy going through important documents.

Floran approached his majesty and announced that there is someone important here to see him. King Victor and the rest of his ministers of the castle looked at Sir Aldren with a questionable stare. The king then turned to Floran and hesitated for a while from the way Sir Aldren appeared. After a few seconds of talking, Floran managed to get through the king and give a chance for Sir Aldren to approach his majesty. “Therein well, you may speak Sir Aldren.” King Victor said still with a bit of hesitation. Sir Aldren came forward and stopped exactly four feet away from the place where King Victor was seated. Then he gave a bow on one bended knee. But he didn’t stand up; instead Sir Aldren stayed on that bended knee and spoke very gently. “I am Sir Aldren, Second in command of the white knights of the Wonder Wall Kingdom. We were sent few days ago to destroy the white dragons who tried to annihilate this Kingdom. But unfortunately they were all deceived by Lord Dareth.” Sir Aldren kept on telling all that has happened so far. He even introduced Oren and told about his wizard brothers too. Also he convinced the king that the dragons were no longer harmful to us.
